Ground Effects & gas mileage

Ground effects at the back of the car will prevent air from escaping from under the car and trapping it against the back bumper. So you'll have to push that piled up air along as well as the car itself. An air dam at the front & sides will help keep air out from under the car in the first place.

Wouldn't this just cause a larger area of drag in the rear?
