Getting to stretch my mileage legs...

This weekend I'll be making a 375 mile trip from Atlanta, GA down to Crystal River, FL. I'm going down there to do some snorkeling in Crystal River, Rainbow River, and Three Sister's Springs (I go every year). I'm leaving Friday night and hope to approach a 600 mile tank for the trip there and back. Wish me luck!

If that's a pic of you snorkeling , you need more than just luck.

I think I'll be leaving later than everyone, so I can slack on speed. Charlie (the other driver) is pretty slow, so if and when I do finally catch up, it won't be so bad. I'm going to try really hard to keep it between 90 and 110 km/h (56-68 mph) with a target of 100 km/h (62 mph).

A manatee in the car would KILL the gas mileage. No, that is a picture (that I did NOT take) of a manatee in Three Sisters Springs - one of the places I'll be visiting. Last year in the larger springs, we counted over 70 manatees and 4 tarpon swimming around us...it was incredible. I really hope the water is that clear this year in the springs...last year was kind of murky, but the year before was great!

Ok, so this past weekend of driving was a disaster.

1. Rain going down friday night. I'm talking the worst rain I have EVER driven in.

2. Charlie is a whole different driver from last year. He did 80-85 most of the way, and I had to stay in the pack of cars.

In other words, I'm making up hideous excuses to justify the crappy 38ish MPG I got on my trip.

Hopefully by next year I can be MPFI and own a Super MID.
