found a VX nearby (don't know if it's for sale)

I've seen it around a few times. It's a red one, bit of rust around the rear wheel arches, but not too terrible.

I've spotted it twice parked in the same driveway about 4 blocks away. You tend to notice a lot more stuff when you ride a BikeE everywhere

So, do you use chains or studded bike tires?

Exactly! That's why I need a tadpole trike: I can go do bike-donuts in the parking lots when it snows and not worry about falling off

Actually, it's been sort of mild (but rainy) for the past few weeks. I've seen ice on the puddles a few mornings, but we've only had one snowfall thus far... (touches wood)

Ok , the brief story.

I found a broken down and abandoned car on the side of the road , it had been there for ages.
I wanted it , so I went to the local car licensing centre (copshop) and aksed what I could do to get it.,

The cops told me that I could take a long term abandoned car if I placed a public advertisement in the paper saying how it could be cliamed by the legal owners for 1 month.
If they respond within that time I have to give it back.

After that time its mine.

So thats what I did...
After getting the car , placing the add etc-etc I went back to the cops to register the car in my name.
Then they told me that it was illegal.

I said the sergant I spoke to said it was OK., and that he had even offered me some seized vehicles from out the back.

They said he had been fired and that I should take that car back to where I found it from.
I think that sergant was having a brain melt down or something.

So thats what I did.

Bit of a bummer because I had already done some repairs to get it going again.

Huh. About a year ago, I had an abandoned old vehicle removed from a piece of property I own.

I had to submit a request form to the local copshop who had some junkyards and towing services from which to choose. After I did this and waited a couple weeks, they finally told me that none of those businesses 'wanted' to deal with the vehicle so the request couldn't be fulfilled. That's when I called around and within 10 minutes, found a junkyard that would tow it and dispense with it.

I knew of the guy who abandoned the vehicle, but he could no longer be reached. He apparently was driving past my property when his truck broke down. He and his passenger pushed it onto my lot, pulled the plates, and just left it. The yard that finally took it 6 months later told me they had several of his old junkers.

Leave a note on it! we bought a VW buss years back that way, and I'm going to check out a 1983 civic dx hatchback that I spoted a year ago, I had left my card and a note on it, and the guy finely desided to sell it, $400!

A friend got a Citroen 2CV in New York City this way, had been sitting in an alley for months, left a note, nothing, was abandoned.

He was told by the police that he could not get it.

Hmm, anyhow he went on his own and got it, evicted the "urban outdoorsman" that was living in it, and had a car.

...of course I almost did this with a Volvo 144S one time, but it disappeared. A month or so later, I saw it on the road, so it would have been stolen...or maybe this guy stole my car!
