I've been thinking the same although I doubt there will be a next car for me. I'm old enough to make it with this one. It would do for well over 90% of my driving though. I'd have to add Stabil or similar to the fuel.

Never thought of that. I always use 97 or 99 RON petrol and I use the same in my Briggs & Stratton mower and it stays fresh in the jerry can over winter. What I would do with a PHEV is only keep about a quarter full tank and, if I had a long journey to make, I could fill up with enough fresh for the trip before I go.

Why not go full EV? Prices are rock bottom now, you can get a Zoe with just 35k on the clock for a tickle over £4k now. The cheapest plug in hybrid is almost 50% more with double the mileage. With the miles you cover, i.e. hardly any, the range is probably more then adequate.

The range would be adequate for most use, but every so often I have a 200-mile trip.

I'm sure it's probably not the $4k version but this one on Wikipedia is a SERIOUSLY good looking car. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaul...f_22112020.jpg
Far better looking than the Wiki Renault 5 elec replacing it.

I'd go for that 2020 in an instant, which I believes comes with the 100kw motor and 52kw battery and 245 (theoretical) miles range. That's one really good looking skateboard.

Depreciation has been awful on EVs here, some guy on a forum I follow lost 50% in 7 months, some £17,000. Great for people looking to buy used, devastating for those buying new.

That's an interesting report. It would be great for an around town car as he said. I like that red color in the wiki photo and the 2020 specs but you can't argue with $4400. Well, 4400 pounds (don't know the secret of making the pound symbol) and $5650. I can't see anyone arguing about either of those amounts.
