Plenty of 'cars' that attempted to do this (think aptera) have failed because they were too expensive, among other reasons. I think their decision to keep costs down is a very good idea, but I would have suggested a price of 8-10k instead of 6.8k. Maybe once (if) they get these cars selling they will have more upscale models.

This guy has been running the same scam for 50 years. Must be Elio's "mentor".

Elio only had a shot when gas was $4 a gallon.

So why not adapt? Why not move operations? If they moved somewhere in Europe where gas is $7+ a gallon, there should still be a market.

Competition. Europe already has trikes and quadricycles on the market. Some are even electric.

Yea but competition is good, and in that sector, it's pretty small, I think they'd stand a chance. The all electric twizy is probably the closest thing, which is also classed a quadricycle to avoid safety tests etc.

Not sure about the ratio of con artists in Britain compared to the US, but you sure don't need to import one of ours, respectfully posted.

Part of the Elio's plan was to source has much of its content domestically, and work was invested in that. To move to Europe, they would have have import duty slapped on the trike, or start from the beginningin building up the supply and service chains.

True, and the importation would no doubt double or tripple the costs.
