Easy way to save gas

Enjoy your car!

I was wondering if it would be worth it to install a decent sound system in my car or not, so over the weekend I stuck a powered woofer in the back and wired the satellite outputs to the stock radio. It sounds amazing, ghetto setup, but amazing.

This week I haven't cared that others drive like crap. I haven't gotten mad and hit the gas to pass someone going slow because I wasn't in a hurry to get home, I've been enjoying the smooth music in my car. I enjoy going on drives at night and those are usually relaxed and yield decent mileage because I just crank the radio up and drive, but with the influences of other drivers I guess it takes a higher quality sound to distract me to that point during rush hour.

Just thought I'd share.

Oh yeah, for the first time in my normal drive I hit 200 miles before I was to half a tank. Usually I'm at 160 or so by then.

Podcasts allow me to drive slower, especially on the highway.

I think the bass boost would get most people excited. Then, voila, hit the gas! And waste some dead dino juice.

But I'm waiting to "upgrade" as well. I only have two speakers in my Mustang, and one is not working...

I noticed that VNV Nation is not good for fuel economy.

Listening to music relaxes me, it doesn't matter what genre, as long as it sounds good. At home I listen to music through open headphones with bass from a sub for what the headphones can't reproduce. It's my escape to the world of flac.

A very high-end headphone amp, great headphones, and a nice sub can't beat that in an apartment.

When I was 16 Pontiac used to run a 3 minute long commercial, that was essentially a 3 minute extended cut of the Pontiac jingle. I'd be driving my Bonneville wagon, but when I heard that I'd turn up the radio and mash the pedal to the floor to the tune of "We build ex-cite-ment that you want to drive... PONTIAC!"

That wasn't particularly good for FE either, but then again gas was only $0.85/gallon too. I wasn't too concerned about it at the time.
