You will see definite MPG increases.
Ethenol only has 2/3 of the energy content of gasoline, 115k btu/gal vs 75.7k btu/gal.
So if you had a car that could run on pure gasoline or pure alcohol, or any blend between, if it could get 30mpg with gasoline, in the exact same conditions, it would only get 20mpg with ethanol.
Heck, if you switch from E10 to E0, you should get a 3.4% increase in MPG, all else being equal. Just like if you switch from E85 to E0 you'd get a 21% increase in MPG.
Bottom line, do it, so long as it costs less than 3% higher than the E10.
Addendum:
Your VX's 47.67mpg average should, with no other variables, lift to 49.1mpg.
