E0 gasoline... worth trying?

I'm in Vancouver, WA, and found a place that sells unblended (zero ethanol) gasoline. I figure it's worth at least a tank or two to see what kind of difference it makes.

Any ideas on what increase in mpg I might expect?

Re: E0 gasoline... worth trying?

You will see definite MPG increases.

Ethenol only has 2/3 of the energy content of gasoline, 115k btu/gal vs 75.7k btu/gal.

So if you had a car that could run on pure gasoline or pure alcohol, or any blend between, if it could get 30mpg with gasoline, in the exact same conditions, it would only get 20mpg with ethanol.

Heck, if you switch from E10 to E0, you should get a 3.4% increase in MPG, all else being equal. Just like if you switch from E85 to E0 you'd get a 21% increase in MPG.

Bottom line, do it, so long as it costs less than 3% higher than the E10.

Addendum:

Your VX's 47.67mpg average should, with no other variables, lift to 49.1mpg.

Decided to try a tank and see. The station is a bit out fo the way, and I have to go into the office to get a card, then go back into the office and pay, but... hey, these are MPGs we're talking about!!

It's about 10% more than the E10 sold around here, so I might try it for a few tanks for purely academic purposes.

Its about the same in price where I live for the non-ethanol fuel. I tried it last year and did improve my fuel mileage around 3%.
