CO - my point is only that 1-way trips don't represent reality, and reporting spectacular segment FE (while it's definitely exciting to achieve, and motivating) has the potential to be unintentionally misleading.
When it comes to dramatic claims of FE, I just think we need to give people lots of contextual info so they can decide for themselves just how "good" it really is (like skewbe says, 116 mpg seems great, but the 20 mph average puts it in a different light).
