average mileage for Nissan Altima 2015

Hello everyone, I got a new 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 SV. Its got 2000 miles on it and I did 5 fuelups till now and my average mileage is 22 mpg. I feel its low. Is this because its a new one? Does it increase as miles go up?

Hello welcome. That's only 400 miles per tank roughly, how big is your fuel tank? Doesn't sound great for a modern car, although I'm assuming its gas and has an automatic gearbox? These two things alone are not a great combo for low fuel consumption. There was another owner with the same car getting bad mileage.

Bear in mind, most of your fuel consumption depends on how and where you drive, short city trips in traffic use a lot of fuel, at a steady speed on the highway you should see your best. And its still winter too

That is on the low side. Break-in isn't what it used to be; it hurts but not as much as most would think. As mentioned, your driving style, climate, weather, terrain, and urban/suburban/highway/freeway driving all affect your outcome, even things such as the type of road surface. That machine should see mid-high 20s in the hands of most anyone.

Can you elaborate a little bit on where you are located, what your commute and driving style are like, etc.?
