Any metro members?

If anyone on here has a metro, or knowledge on them, can someone verify wether my mk4(95) uses a headunit with an internal amplifier or a remote amp? I took my speakers out awhile back and was going to remove the amp today but can't seem to find it. On my 98 Mustang its behind the dash mounted to the floor but the only thing I see on the Metro around this area is the car's computer (I believe). Perhaps the wattage is so small it could use a internal one on the metro?

I am not a Metro expert but I'm willing to bet the power/amp source is integral to the HU . You could try giving a Best Buy or Circuit City (maybe even Crutchfield??)install shop to confirm .

Thanks for the help. I pulled the HU out and its like another 5 pounds so I've removed a good bit today on top of the other stuff. Ill weigh it later.

I looked at the wiring coming out the back of the HU and this confuses me too. Among some other wires I have 4 color coded ones for the speakers...FR FL RR and RL. Now, the car doesn't and never had rear speakers so I wasnt surprised to see the RL only has enough wire on it to splice onto if you installed one, but the RR's wire actually goes into a harness and dissapears into the dash.. I need to look further into that one..

Most of the time they use a common harness for all HU's - cheaper to manufacture just one type than to have several for one make/model . Normally they would use a shunt to splice in for other setups...but bean counters rule in production .

Ok, Im calling it quits for the day. I removed about 10-12 pounds today and thouroughly cleaned out my airbox and all PCV tubing. Still have to weigh the parts so I can add it to my total weight shaved off stock weight. Currently at 78 pounds..

I have a metro, but unfortunately I'm not much help...

I do have a question for you though. Did your metro come with rear speakers? Mine only come with front speakers. There are two places for them in the back, but they're just empty, so I'm not sure if someone jacked them (but why wouldnt they take the front ones too?) or if that were some how an option on them.

Atom, no, there was no speakers and I know that's the way it came from the factory. It has the holes where they go and the grills in the panel, but nothing inside. All wires are there though. I guess if you wanted to install them afterwords...
