Just an anecdote; I had an RX-7 with charging issues that I didn't drive often, living on an island, and having a Mazda 323, a scooter, and 250 Honda Rebel motorcycle that could do 85 with my girlfriend on it. I got good at starting the RX-7 by sitting in the driver's seat, and pushing it backward with my left leg, and push starting it in reverse. My left leg got strong!

As severach mentioned. You do not have to worry about the safety/anti-theft stuff because the key is in the ignition and in the ON position in order for it to work.
