2007 National Microcar Meet (lots of pictures)

The National MicroCar meet was held this year at the Bruce Weiner MicroCar Museum in Madison, GA - about 100 miles east of me. I spent all day Friday and Saturday at the meet and saw some spectacular cars and met some even more spectacular owners. The featured vehicles this year were Cushman Scooters and King Midgets. Awards were given to the first person to register, the furthest distance driven (in a microcar) and people's choice awards for best Cushman, best Midget, and best microcar. My Honda Beat took 3rd as best microcar - I was so pleased.

Some of you may know I have been considering selling the Beat. I actually sold it this weekend to Jeff Lane - owner of the Lane Motor Museum. He is going to put the Beat in his museum! All in all it was a great weekend.

Anyhow, here's some of the more than 100 pictures I took. To see them all go to the following links:

The front of the Museum

Some Isettas parked out front. These were for people to drive!

A drag Isetta with a matching Hot Wheels car. I wonder which came first?

Peel Trident

A nice looking Z600 showed up - only one though.

Fiat Abarth - mmmmm.

A Messerschmitt KR200

Preparing for the first day's police escorted cruise through the countryside.

Tamara and Jeff Lane's Peel P50.

Tamara trying out a Berkeley. The owner won for furthest distance driven - from Chicago IL to Madison GA in this little car!

A Goggomobil Dart

Great, now she wants a Smart.

Me with a good looking King Midget.

Tamara posed with Charlie Kidd's Honda Beat

Oh the hotness!

Corbin Sparrow.

What's that tucked in there? =D

Bond Bug

Some goofy pictures of Bruce.

A Honda Dax 70!

An F430 decided to join the party. Not a microcar.

Not a microcar.

Bruce's Spyker C8 Spyder

Drive to Madison, day 2.

Spyker doing a fly-by on the double-yellow.

Great, now she wants a Segway.

Me, the car, and the trophy.

For those of us in the Northeast US, the 12th annual Microcar & Minicar Classic Event will be held July 13~15 in Brookline MA. Charles and Nancy Gould are again the hosts and the Larz Anderson Museum of Transportation is the main venue of this annual event held yearly the first weekend after July 4th.
www.bubbledrome.com for more details. See you there.

I wish that I had known about this. I would have loved to see some of those. It also would have given me an excuse to drive to Athens for a few days. I love that town.

Did I miss a thread about selling the Beat??

Congrats on the trophy! We missed 3rd place with the ForkenSwift last weekend, and honorable mentions don't come with trophies.

Darin -

I was really just testing the waters about selling the Beat. When Jeff offered me what I really wanted to get for it (and without finalization on the title), I could only accept his offer.

Repete86 - this event happens every 2 years - see you there in 2009! Check out www.microcar.org to stay on top of things. Advanced registration saves you $20/person.

Jared - the Ferrari did show up, but the Spyker belonged to the museum owner - he pulled it out because so many of us begged him to.

now the real important question:

did you make a profit?

and are you going to get a n600 now? again?

Jeff Lane is a good guy, known him for years, your car found a good home where it will both be shown and used from time to time.

I need to get over there, he has a Citroen 2CV display this summer and to again check out his Citroen DS rally car from Holland, (orange of course!)

Yeah it looks like the Beat has found a great new home.

Matt - yes, I made somewhat of a profit.

I am going to be getting another vehicle, but this one is a three wheeler and I need to assemble the entire thing.
