I ride a 600cc F4i sportbike. I am a racer of cars and bikes, but keep that to the track (mainly)
I am very aware of my mileage, it was always much better than most cars and had the performance to have fun with anytime. But I was intrigued by the challenge and like to help out where I can.
Found this site from an article on MSN. Thought it was interesting and started 'lurking'
Times are very tough for me and I have started to ride MUCH more in my daily commute to save some money.
So I think I can stretch that even more and do my part. So here I am. In my last 2 tankfuls I have gone from my 41/42.5 average up to 46.
Safety on a bike still comes first, and I probably am not doing much modifications except to keep it well maintained. So I am generally just adjusting my riding style.
As you've said, gearing will help, and fairings will help even more. But, it seems to be newer, so you may not want to change anything. I'm still waiting for someone to put together a bike that'll run a 10s qm and clock ~100mpg@65mph.
