72.10 km / 44.8 mi. -- scangauge reading

72.55 km / 45.08 mi -- google earth path distance

so my odo is over registering google earth by 0.2% (point two percent).

don't mind me if i don't bother correcting my gaslog entries
Very impresive. Geo seems to have a handle on this. No correction necessary.

xfi, how have you done with other cars you've owned? have you been able to easily beat the ratings?

i could kick the EPA's butt with my 89 honda accord without even trying (easily 30% over the combined rating), but i find the firefly is a much harder fish to fry. i'm having to be much more extreme in my driving techniques (and mods) to beat its ratings.

Beating EPA Ratings

I have had many Ford products (Festivas, Escorts and Contours) and have always been able to exceed EPA ratings without going to the extremes that I have been more recently.
The Metros definately have not been rated too low
Two Metros ago, I had a base model with Platinum +4s, custom ram air and ran synthetic...I averaged 45 MPG over a four month period. I sold this one on ebay to someone in NY.(nice car, let it go because I got good coin for it)...that one had 155 tires on it and didn't have a problem being overgeared.
Believe its my 49hp rating and final drive gear ratio with the combination of the 155 tires that 'overgear' my car for city and hilly driving conditions. Think my engine is struggling more than it has to.
I will have to check out my speedo/odometer to see how much it is off.

I got that 70MPG tank during

I got that 70MPG tank during the post-Katrina $3+/gal era when I had some incentive to use every trick that I knew to boost my mileage. I dropped all of my cruising speeds by 5MPH, did lots of engine-off coasting on downhills and when approaching stop signs, etc. I work at Sonopress in Weaverville, NC, just north of Asheville and wouldn't mind getting together and comparing notes.

I was wondering, since I got my used DX engine from Japan, does Honda use the same engine computer for the Japanese market that they do in the North American market?

It's prolly got a different number on it but the same junk. P06 is the usdm model, never seen for the JDM model though.

No plans to head to Asheville in the near future but I will be in Myrtle Beach in April, June and August. Maybe one of theose times we could meet. I will have the Prius though.
