Talking Nother Dak Man!

Hey folks,
I've been on the mpg hobby for a bit now. I have a '98 Dakota Sport 5.2 auto. I have done a few mods to increase the mpg and have much more to do. I'm currently at 22 mpg @ 70mph. I want to chat with any other Dak owners to compare and share. I have one big item that's easy to make and should be worth 3mpg.
I'd like to pm Stinkerbutt but don't know how.

BMac

What is the secret mod you're planning? Seems like you're doing pretty well with it for what it is.

To PM him click on his username somewere and do it from his profile or the dropdown menu that shows up when you click his name.

Welcome!

Here I am, Dude are u talking about replacing the air box bolt on the throttle body? cause I did that too and my throttle response and FE went up a ton. It never got more than 26 on the highway at constant speed but now i can be rollin at a constant speed on a flat road and be getting about 38. I'll post pics and how to do it when I get a chance. One of the biggest things for the 5.2 liter dakotas for better FE is an elecric fan. the stock one pulls way too much for no reason and it takes too long to heat up which makes FE worse. I also made a lil more power too.

Nope, not the air box bolt. I've done that, and modded the TB. I put an electric fan on but no mpg gains.
If you want some more torque and a few mpg's, advance the cam4 degrees. I did mine without ping. Still can go another 4 to match up with earlier stock cam positions. The computer still takes over to reduce wheel spin at low speeds.

I'll post some pics after I get this project done... if I can find out how. I find this site hard to navigate when you want to find stuff!

B~
