Hi there.
I drive a 92 nissan 240sx, I usally get around 28 mpg wich is over 30% better than the revised epa combined, and thats while I drive it somewhat hard and run a heavy oil (shell rotella T 15w40).

I live in Kalamazoo, mi.

so thats it for the normal intro stuff I guess

Welcome to GS! My wife's old car was a 240sx hatchback. She adored that car, gave it to her Dad, and then *he* adored it. Do you get offers from Drifters to buy your car? Is it a hatchback or a coupe?

it's manual, and a coupe

My driving habits are a little on the strange side, they're basically a hybrid between HP and FE driving habits

I cruise in the highest gear that the car will tolerate, but I tend to get to my target speed in a hurry. I skip gears insteade of wasting the time and energy shifting through gears I don't need. I engine brake a lot. I use relatively high RPM a lot. If I'm on a 55mph road I'll usually near redline 1st and then 2nd most of the way out and then drop it in fifth and leave it there.
no mods other than the AC removal, in fact my headlights are usually up because i have a bad popup motor. Also I have a tendancy to speed on the interstate around here, 80mph isn't abnormal. At 80 I'm still getting flown by.

i figure 36% over epa isn't bad at all for how I drive it.

Soon i'll change the tranny and diff over to redline, that should help a little, synth gearoils have helped my previous cars.

Cool. If you start using pulse and glide, then I think that you will want to fix the pop-up headlights for the sake of aerodynamic gains in your glide.

I don't redline, but I skip gears all the time. Other people have been doing similar WOT techniques on the theory that the engine is operating more efficiently during their short high RPM segments.

yeah sometimes I manually put them down using the override knobs under the hood with the lights down most of the time it gets more like 30-32 depending on temps and exact driving situation.

with the speeds I drive on the freeway the aero will make a noticable difference. just look at what the headlights up or down does.

I'll have a hard time changing my driving habits because I bought this car for fun. If I was buying only on mileage I would have bought something else.
