New Square

Hi y'all.

I am a new recruit to the forum.

I have been a custom car builder for the past 8 years. Built 4 cars, mostly from scratch.

I am a metal fabricator, with a degree in sculpture, and have spent the last 10 years in product development for a high end garden furniture company (aluminum).

I am not mutch on wiring, or anything electrical, except for soldering, if you do not count forgetting to put the shrink tubing on first.

I am putting a Bug EV together, but as of right now, am only about 1/3 through.

I look forward to worrking and shareing with you all.

Sq.

Greets and welcome, I'm sure we'd all like some custom fab tips for making durable aero mods in sheet metal.

Myself, I'm pondering how to reshape a spare hood I have for my voyager, I want to achieve something like this shape...

I guess I'm probably going to have to shape a buck out of plywood or something... keep wondering if I should just do it in styrofoam and glass over it though.

Woah! (I am on "dial up")

Cool hood.

I would reccomend the styro trick. If you cover the styro in tape (multiple layers) the resin does not melt it.

Steel is often over rated. The learning curve is steep, and much scrap before perfection. Not that it would not be worth it, it might well. But I would weigh the: time, frustration, level of expectation, value/resale. and your ability to finish a possibly long project.

Remember to make your styro form about 1/4" shy of the level you desire. In an additive process it is much easier to add more resin or filler than it will be to remove it.

Welcome, SquareCat. Better to be a feline shaped with corners than a bovine with holes eh?

That's also known as a "fistulated" cow... I've got a pic, but don't wanna cause 56K trauma.
