didnt really want to clog somewhere else up with a newb question but ive seen the scangauge on here and noticed it was only for obd2 cars.... is there something similar for obd1 cars? thanks in advance

That's a common question. There's no one product like the ScanGauge for pre-OBDII vehicles, but there are numerous possibilities if you're willing to do some work.

There's a link in my sig to a thread about a DIY fuel rate meter; that's very basic and doesn't report MPG, but in that thread I've got links to other threads with better ideas. I am particularly fond of the one that suggests using a factory MPG readout that came in a similar model of car.

there isnt any 92-95 civics with mpg gauge is there? i dont think any hondas have them... so without bringing a laptop with me im kinda s.o.l. right?

I think there were similar Acura models with mpg displays. Acura is Honda's upscale product line, and is mechanically/electrically similar to their Honda line.
