Hi guys/gals,

As when I bought my suzuki motorcycle, a quick web search for my new to me Honda VX led me here. Extolling the virtues of this car would be like singing to the choir I imagine. The little red car that can was bought somewhat accidentally after someone totaled my four door 1993 DX while on vacation.

The story is kind of sweet. I was looking for a direct replacement vehicle because I liked my car so much and they're common, right? What I found was an original owner 1993 VX (88 year old man no less) who despite fielding lots of calls from "young fellas wanting the car for racing or something", gave me right of first refusal. Nice!

When I got to see the car, I had a bad clutch, so couldn't be smogged. He paid for the parts and I did the clutch. It BARELY passed, so I knew the cat was bad. This time around, my mechanic (I moved away from my tools and the room to use them) is having a hard time finding one that fits. Ouch.

Anyway, the car has got 48mpg on a trip around the LA basin and averages 40mpg, even with some short tripping. My reasons for riding the motorcycle with a 1200cc motor are kaput. The car gets better mileage every time!

Nice forum. Doug

I wouldn't get rid of the bike just yet for a couple reasons:

1. It's always good to have a backup vehicle...
2. Today would be a perfect day to ride!

Great car for mpgs. 50, even 60 mpg are possible with it. Welcome to the forum, Doug.

I'm looking forward to wringing all the mileage I can out of this car. I've gleaned some great tips from the forums already. Lots of reading to do...Doug
