I am from near Beaumont, TX. I own a 2001 Focus that I have had for almost five years. It runs on 30 mpg, but based on today's standards for gas prices, I will need a hybrid car that runs at least 60 mpg. I heard about the Toyota Prius, but I found that it is rather expensive for a compact car. Another alternative is to keep my current car after it is paid off in a couple of years and use the has-been monthly car payments strictly for gas.
