Im 29, Former deisel mechanic- heading back to school for Computer Info Systems.
I used to own a 2009 f150 2wd 4.6 liter v8
I wound up driving a focus for a while, liked the fuel cost and other things so i switched.
I traded truck for a 2012 Focus, SE with the SFE? (fuel economy thingy) package, automatic tranny.
so far my Total fuel cost has dropped from ~$200 to ~86, plus a cheaper payment..
My goals now, are to spend that saved money on beer
seriously though-
googling/trying for myself:
1) figure out of different grades of gas, to include e85 have any substantial affect on my cost per mile. between vehicles, my cost has dropped from about .18 a mile to about .07 a mile. The constant miles per month is 1200.00
2) if there are any other things i can do. Im skeptical of cold air intakes. Reason largely being- companies spent a lot of time paying for number crunchers to to stare at charts, graphs, and dynos figuring out how to get the best mpg in the given confines- space, cost, etc. I dont think - for me- that there is much in driving habits that i can change.. except maybe watching RPMS and figuring out that point where- i accept the speed, in relation to the RPM. because yes, I like to hit cruise at 74mph on the interstate.
Anyway, howdy!
