Definitely, any extreme or unfamiliar things you do to save fuel more than normal could subject your car to additional wear, your driving to additional risk, etc. It behooves each of us to research things we might do more than just asking the people who are currently reading the thread.
That said, at low RPM drive-by-wire cars often go WOT no matter what you're doing with the accelerator pedal. By flooring it you're just making that more likely (though not assured, again thanks to DBW). At low RPM your engine isn't making the most torque it can make so it's not as likely to make a worn clutch slip as your peak torque RPM would be.
