Hello, newbie to the mpg game.

Hello all.

I've been lurking for a few months and finally decided to register. Many thanks to all who post here. The information is most useful.

Background:

1997 Saturn SC1 with just over 160,000 miles. I rebuilt and installed a salvage yard engine and new clutch @ about 159,000. Runs like a champ. I'm running 40 psi in my tires. And I installed a pcv oil catch can. Oh, and I just got my scangauge!

I'm a recovering lead foot. My commute is about 130 mile round trip. I was getting 33 mpg 80% highway 20% city before I dropped the rebuild in. I'm knocking down just over 40 mpg now. I think that will go up as I'm still calibrating my scangauge. I also tend to drive faster in the morning because I'm usually running late, but I'm working on that...

Thanks to all who contribute to this site!

-Matt-

Sorry, I didn't realize there was a reply!

I'm guessing about 10-15 minutes longer each way.
