I know -- chalk it up to overconfidence of said vehicle's reliability and the perception of superb skills of the driver

I admit, sometimes it was too easy to push the limits once behind the wheel -- I forgot the rest of the world and just drove. Shoot, that was way back in the late 90's!
After moved to KC I worked in the ER/Trauma setting, so I have no excuse for my actions because I saw the results of "when things go wrong" regularly. Everybody's personality changes when they get behind the wheel. I drove stupidly then. I hope I'm "All growns up now"
