Hi, all.
It seems "standard" isn't so standard any more.
I've driven a stick for many years; last had a 2006 Sonata I was very pleased with, but discovered to my chagrin a year ago that Hyundai stopped importing them into the US with the 2012 model year.
I spent a year keeping an eye out for a low-mileage used 2012 (rare bird in the US). Finally found one with 15k miles, so very happy. On a very small number of fill-ups, it seems to get about 2mpg better than my 2006 (6 speeds vs. 5, maybe?). Clutch is much shorter throw than my old one, took a little getting used to, but now I love it. Also like the huge trunk, which cheerfully ate a bicycle (with front wheel off) once I put the back seats down.
If there are any other 2012 stick-shift Sonata owners on here who haven't specified their transmission in the profile, please do. I could only find one other driver who called it out. There must be more of us... or am I even more of a dinosaur than I thought?
