Big Update!! Had a friend over and the extra set of hands was very useful!

We pulled the z1 out of the the wrecked hatch along with the manual steering rack and some of the suspension components I will be use on the Del Sol

This stuff is gonna get cleaned up and then installed into the Del Sol hopefully by next weekend...

Well after my friend left I go down and dirty with the engine bay...it needed attention and I was avoiding it soap and water didn't cut it so I went at it with some "bug and tar" remover stuff which also has some wax in it and it worked perfect!

Then i kept my motivated self going and did the wire tuck on the drivers side...well worth the effort...for the pass side I can't do it the same way with out some serious rerouting I am just going to hit it behind somethings, I have an idea that should work!

And here is a sneak peak to an idea I am working on....

Well yesterday was the first day I started to reinstall parts!!! A turning point in what I am now calling "Project Sol Cleansing"...

I've been cleaning every nut and bolt as i got, wire wheel some paint and then anti-seize...

Yesterday I installed the clutch hydro lines and master cylinder

Tonight I replaced the inner and outer tie rods, and mounted the manual steering rack and sub-frame into the chassis...it was a pain getting all the bolts back in, lots of wiggling, loosening, tightening, shift, etc...but i finally got it all bolt back and bolt the new LCAs on too...oh plus the new rear mount from Honda!

I've got plenty more to do but seeing stuff back in the car keeps me motivated...either tomorrow or wed I'm looking to put another few hours into it...Matt

Put some more time in on the Sol tonight, just trying to get stuff back on the firewall so I can get the motor in, finally took the fly wheel off and getting that to the machine shop and gonna put the gaskets, timing belt, water pump etc on the motor so its ready to go when the fly wheel gets back...

Look what we have here a clutch pedal!! First time this car has had one, I also got my Del Sol shift linkage today...lucky i fount out the civic linkage is about 2" to short to use in the Sol...

Also got my new corner lights in the mail today...

and I mounted up the front UCAs...the new suspension is pretty

thats all for now, plenty more to come!

Thanks! I'm so happy its coming out really nice, very time consuming but it should be back on the road soon enough and hoping to get mid 40mpg's out of the box and gonna aim t get in the 50's consistently on my daily commute with the aero mods I have planned!

Didn't snap any pics from tonight but got the z1 on the engine stand, broke the crank pulley lose so tomorrow the gaskets and timing belt should be all on, got the stubborn axles nut off and removed the ball joints from the spindles, now the spindles and calipers will get cleaned and painted to match the rest of the new parts! ...still a lot to do but its moving along at a good pace!

Here are some pics from yesterday

z1 on the stand

stubborn Axles nut...mutilated!!! got some frustration out with that! ordered new axles which i'll be getting tomorrow....

and then the spindles both free of the axles and lower ball joints removed...

then tonight i did a little tear down on the z1 started cleaning and painting a few things just to clean it up a little...

Might get some progress in tomorrow but most likely I'll have some more updates next week...and hopefully the motor will be in by then end of the week!

Well my Ex/Si/Vx front lip showed up along with the stock VX grill block I ordered...it was only $8 to get the stock one and I wanted to see if it would work on the Del Sol bumper...

and I think it looks pretty good!

I'll be mounting after I get a few tanks in for a baseline MPG..hoping to see some small gains with the lip and grill block...

Then tonight I picked up my new half shafts and I clean and painted the spindles then put the new lower ball joints in, also spent some time on the motor too, I'll have the flywheel back tomorrow and hopefull the motor will be in the car too!

Well after a lot of time staring at the Honda Manual and searching around the internet I decided I was ready to do the wiring for the D15z1...I am using the VX engine harness, which for the most part plugs right into the Del Sol harness...the civic VX does however have an addition engine harness plug located on the pass side shock tower...it includes the wires for the 5-wire O2 and the EGR lift valve...since I had the totaled VX I decided to un-loom the harness trace these wires to the ECU and then un-pin them...

I'm glad I did because it made for a very clean install and I think simplified it!

Now on the other side of the engine bay there is a plug for the EGR control Box...this however isn't in the Del Sol, since I swapped from power to manual steering rack I had an extra plug from the power steering fluid sensor which was in the ideal location...so I cut the plug off the VX harness then soldered it to the wires for the PS sensor all i needed to do was pop the pin out at the ECU for the PS sensor and put it where the the EGR control box should be!

The only other thing was to wire up vtec...which I lucked out because it was pre-wired in the Del Sol! I didn't know, decided to check at the ECU and yuppers both wires were there!

Final product!

Here are some links that helped me incase someone else needs help!

Got my fingers crossed, hoping for no CELs on start up...
