Another brick!!

Bringing another rolling brick to the fold, this time a 1989 Jeep Cherokee. That 4.0L is a great motor, the inline 6 that can't be killed. Unfortunately, we've got something left to be desired on the aerodynamics side of things....

Anywho....I found the site while doing some research, and I'm looking forward to being a part of the board!!

Time for the 1st question........

Seeing as I'm driving an AMC/Renix Jeep (Chrysler in badging only ), what can I do for a MPG gauge?? I would love to find something like the Scangauge, which will give me real-time (as well as average) MPG ratings and other things....but I can't find anything to work with my dinosaur. Any ideas??

Welcome to the site raccoonjoe. My Renix is rusty but I don't think you've got an OBOI protocol.....I think the Renix ECU had their own diagnostic stuff

This is true, the Renix ECU was before the OBD I. This is the main reason why I'm stumped here....I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...just have no idea how to get there!

Is pulling the engine an option? Removing the Renix and dropping in a newer HO 4.0 might be an idea

No, not now. I've got 215K on this block, it's running strong. I'm not going to be able to justify pulling it until I blow it....
