Syncing issues between iPhone 3GS and 4

I reviewed a few threads regarding sync issues, but didn't get any further.

I had been using GCFree on an iPhone 3GS for a while now and I'm in the process of moving my data to my iPhone 4. I purchased GC and installed it on my 3GS first, uploaded my data from GCFree, and downloaded it into GC (again, on my 3GS) just fine. However, when I installed GC on my iPhone 4 and tried to sync (ie, pull) my data from what I uploaded to the GC cloud from GCFree on my 3GS, I'm not getting anything. I did get both emails to link my two instances of GC (one on my 3GS, one on my 4) with my email address and both instances of GC show my email account is linked. I just can't get the data to my iPhone 4 instance. Is there a version incompatibility since the 3GS version of GC is not the same as the iPhone 4 version (due to max IOS version). Any other suggestions for getting my data to my iPhone 4? I do have a CVS export from my 3GS.

Please advise.

P.S. I don't really need to keep the 3GS data active any more. I just want the iPhone 4 to have the data that the 3GS has/had.

Thanks RobertV for your support.

Just to close this out on the forum for anyone else having a similar issue...support requested I re-push my data from my 3GS to the servers. Then, they were able to make my data available (using my linked email address and a support test-device) so that I was able to sync (pull) my data to my iPhone 4. All is good now.

No problem!

To be honest, all I really did on my end was ensure the sync data was pulling down correctly. Initially it didn't. This can happen for various reasons. Maybe the initial sync didn't push up properly, weak or intermittent data connection or overwriting the existing (complete) data set that you're trying to pull down with a blank template (or even one or two entries) on the new phone.

In a situation like this, the device with the full data set needs to ensure sync is logged in (you can even change the email address to ensure a fresh sync) and Sync (push up) the data to the servers. On the device you're wanting to populate with data (new phone for example) go to Settings -> Sync Setup -> (again, ensure email address matches old phone) and then tap Delete LOCAL Data **ONLY**. This will erase any data on the new phone and prepare it to receive any data stored in the servers. After doing this, I personally like to force close Gas Cubby, relaunch, ensure I have a solid data connection and then tap Sync.
Giving it a few minutes to pull down the data, it should populate the complete data set.

I'm glad this was a relatively easy fix and no data was lost!
