My wife and I have been living in a solar house is Maine for nearly 20 years. We have a 4.2 kW array along with solar thermal panels.
Since buying a plug-in Prius in 2012, I have been charging it during the daylight hours using the solar electricity generated by our panels. Most of my charging, however, is at night, but I'm only seeing about a $20/month increase in my electric bill.
That is awesome, my dream someday! I love the combo battery power only / engine cars. I hope more enter the seen, I would really love to see a compact low cost version for the masses.
