Hybrid MPG experiences and tips?
I understand that real-life fuel efficiency can be influenced by various factors such as terrain and driving style. While contemplating the purchase of my first hybrid vehicle, I am eager to learn about your experiences in achieving or surpassing the EPA's estimated highway mileage with your hybrid. Specifically, I am considering the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid, the Chevy Malibu Hybrid, and the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. Currently, I own a 2012 Hyundai Sonata that achieves its EPA-rated 35 mpg on highway trips. If the Accord Hybrid consistently delivers 47 mpg, I would find that acceptable.
If you've managed to meet or surpass the EPA's fuel efficiency estimates for your vehicle, I am interested in understanding the conditions under which this occurs. Does it depend on factors such as speed, coasting, or any other variables?
Furthermore, I'm curious if a hybrid's highway MPG remains consistent over four 100-mile trips compared to one 400-mile journey.
