Scangauge not communicating
well, got my scangauge, plugged it in, and it will not communicate with my 95 olds. yes, it is OBDII. for some reason this olds DOES have it. working, but, "connecting..." never goes away. checked troubleshooting...nothing. plugged in to my wife's car--it's all good(working great).
so, is my car destined to not have a scangauge or what? tried contacting the manufactuer, but no response yet. please help!

A car that is pre-1996 may have the OBDII port but not the full OBDII protocol.
Auto manufacturers were not obligated to fully comply with the OBDII protocol until 1996, so your Olds might be a "partial compliance" that would only work with Olds shop diagnostic tools, or not at all. Soooooo, you could have the infrastructure (the OBDII port), but not the software compatibility.

While I was browsing through the manual for the SG at http://scanguage.com , I found a way to help this condition. It involves setting the SG to a setting called "supported." I'll see if I can find the link.

His never connects, 95 olds isn't listed fyi, might need to wait for Ron.

But you want to make sure the mode is "auto" (check the manual how to do that) and the car is on and running before giving up hope.
