The X-guage is a new feature that is now available because of the new firmware. It allows you to program different gauges to monitor things that your car supports that aren't a part of the SG's normal set of gauges. One that is really cool is that you can now get current trip info on the same screen as the instant mpg and the other gauges.

The current trip data and instang mpg on the same screen would really help my wife. I'm going to email them and see if they can update mine.
