ever cleaned maf and tb?

Hi all, on my quest searching for better mpg's I ran across cleaning the maf sensor since my car is almost 70k. So thought I'd give it a try. At my local store they only had a maf and tb cleaner set. I went ahead and got it.

Neither the mass air flow sensor or the throttle body appeared dirty but what the heck, had already bought the cleaners. Saw nothing come off the maf sensor but tons came off the inside of the tb.

Turns out it is the best $8 I have ever spent. Crisper throttle response (better than when I bought it at 64k) and a quick trip to town and back was showing almost 2 mpg increase on the scangauge. Looking forward to see what the whole tank yields in mpg. Good Luck and Happy Hypermiling

Cleaning the MAF was hugely beneficial for my Echo too. It was nasty and tripping a false P0171 code. It cured an awful lack of power and the MPG increase was stellar too.

Not sure cleaning the maf or tb or both improved things, My bet is the throttle body.
