KLR rider here. I'm on my fourth one.
The DR's a great bike. I get to envy you at valve adjustment time. You get to envy me at gas stops
GPS is a must on your bike for checking mileage. O.E,M, speedos are generally off by a good 7-10%, in the optimistic direction.
