Re: Motorcycling 2011

The annual meeting of motorcycle enthusiasts in eastern PA area held the National Turkey PRO slowrace on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Nice weather with temperature in the 60F drew a large attendance of fancy two-wheel vehicles:

This year, the even is held at a new venue in Oley Fairground in Oley, PA.
With better parking arrangement, larger field of participants and spectators for the slowrace.

Race format is simple, oval grass track, with a incline and decent.
Two riders faceoff, head to head race once around the track, the slowest time without putting foot down wins. Any bike can participate, even the large BMW with hard sidecases or the little 50cc clown bike.

I rode out on my 01 Kawasaki Sherpa 250, hoping to dominate the slowrace with my fine motor skills, but against the tiny clown bikes I had no chance of winning..

Roads out in Oleys were great, lots of elevation changes along with curves.

Good times, not many more riding days like this for the rest of the year.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

Our 'closing' f650.hu meet was on the 13th of November. 'Closing' means the last nice day for a while here, I've been riding in fog and frost since then (I must admit that I even fell on ice last week, bending Teresa's handlebar )

We had no race, just some climb up to the ruins, and some dirt/grass trail riding
And no big variety in bikes, just a handful of F650s (GS, Classic, CS) and shiNIN's Hyosung GV250.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

Found it on local Craigslist few weeks ago, went out to take a look at it, within 6 hours of it being posted on Craigslist, I put a deposit on it for the purchase, it was simply too good of a deal to pass. Finally got it home tonight.

$3750, only 72xx mi. on her, completely stock (unmolested) with heated grips and ABS.

I see Ohlins and BlackHole exhaust in the near future.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

Clear title, clean bike.. I'm the third owner now, 1st owner had many Beamers; this one didn't get ridden much.
2nd owner has 2 small kids, not whole lot of time to ride, moving on to vintage Honda

Bike even cames with cases.. got it out in the daylight to take some decent pics.:

Engine output doesn't feel as powerful as my previous R1150RS, but seems to rev up quicker.

Alot more vibration than I remembered of my R1150RS, too.
Sitting at traffic light I can see the whole instument panel shaking like a Harley.

Got to take a weight mesurement, with cases and about 25 lb. of stuff in them, the bike weighs in at 560 lb., dude standing be the window is outside of the scale area:

Put 130+ mi. on it today, maybe more tomorrow.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

A nice find, again. And its color rhymes with the Ninjette (and the scooter)

As for me, today I left Teresa home. It was a relief that I could make it up to the hill last evening, I did not take the risk of another fall on the way down: everything is frozen again, the trail is too icy. The downside of living out there: I had to get up at 3:40am to get into work.

Re: Motorcycling 2011

Closing out year 2011 with a 45 mile ride on the Beemer.
Temp. in the mid 50's, global warming is alive and well.
