Taking the bike or truck down there to sell?

Why not just ride down?

Its cheaper to drive the bike down in the truck. My back can't take more than about 300 miles before it gives out. For me to ride down I'd spend 6 days on the road, and only one in Daytona. That's several hotel nights that I'd rather not pay for.

Re: Just about ready to leave for Bike Week in Daytona!

I've ridden down to Daytona, Key West a handful of times.. though interesting to watch the races, crowd and all the motorcycles, not much other attractions to physically be there other than the ride down itself. Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway, the Dragon, all are far more entertaining on a motorcycle than riding in stop and go traffic near Daytona..

I'm more into the riding then anything else, driving there seems to defeat the purpose of being there.. not to mention, un-gas-saver like, which is what this forum is about, no?.

The bike is not the only reason I came. I came to meet up with some other riders I met on the internet, and I have family that lives just outside Daytona that I had not seen in a while, and I needed to check up on my late grandfather's car. Someday it shall be mine. I just drove it today, only has 13,000 miles on it, and its a 2006.

It was a matter of economics and time. I didn't have 2 weeks to take off from work, and riding would involve several nights on the road in hotels. As expensive as gas is, its cheaper than hotels. Plus, there was nasty weather driving down, it poured rain most of the time.

Just ride, no excuses.

Video makes me wish that I could still ride at 80,.. even though it's a commercial.
