Honda Civic CX question

got a buddy(co-worker) that is selling his CX. he put it on craigslist for $1600. i suggested he could get much more. what do you all think?

the car is an ALL original 1992? daily driver, w/ 230k miles, in great shape w/ exception of a few nicks and dings. the driver's seat is very worn, however. w/out researching, i'd rather ask what the market COULD bare on this car. i was thinking he could get closer to $2500.

he is in no hurry BTW. and he received ~30 calls/emails the first day! should he re-post at a higher price?

A 230,000 mile old, 20 year old car for $2500? Sounds like one hell of a Honda premium to me.

Did he receive lots of worthless calls, or calls that are likely to turn into actual sales?

I just did a search...

http://providence.craigslist.org/cto/1503614788.html
1992 EX, 155k, needs nothing (unless you want to undo the black hood), $1300.
1992 LX, 110k, seems in good condition, $1500

OTOH, http://providence.craigslist.org/cto/1500529538.html
1992 coupe, sounds kinda beat up and riced out, $2000

Seems possible, especially since he is in no hurry.

i don't know the details in regard to "quality" of calls. perhaps i should've been more clear on the price. i thought he could post higher and come down, not actually sell for $2500.

Maybe he could sell it for like 1800.00 to the right person but 2600.00 sounds like way too much for a car like that.

It's way overpriced at $1600 for a car that's driven far enough to travel to the moon, and is as likely to die tomorrow, as it is to start up and run.

id start at 2k and just work my way down until it sells. The car may be a honda but its def has a few miles under its belt. not to mention its 18 yrs old. The car is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. If he's not in a hurry id up the price a lil and see if he gets any bites
