Another thread here somewhere (probably from a year or more ago) mentions that Police Departments and taxi services use the water technique (especially in the carbon-laden Crown-Vics) as routine maintenance. I was shocked at first to learn about it since water doesn't compress in the cylinder, but in small amounts, it essentially "steam-cleans" the top end without harming the seals, etc. Seafoam adds petroleum distillates and other components to break-up those impurities and adds more to the mix.
