Car Reviews Forum!

The purpose of the car reviews forum is to encourage you to post your experiences with different vehicles.

Did you rent a car and want to share your experience? This is your chance!

This weekend I will be transferring all of rh77's car reviews to this forum.

I'd add to the current collection, but I've been getting the same rental cars from '06 lately. I may have one or two in the archives to write up. I'm just patiently waiting for the '07s. Notable Fuel Efficient rentals lately:
  • Ford Focus SES ZX4
  • Kia Spectra EX
  • Toyota Corolla LE

The Ford is way outdated and needs help, which should soon be on its way.
The Kia gets a facelift, but I still really like this car. 32mpg in normal driving from a 2.0L L4 is pretty good -- especially at high speeds -- and its ergonomics, spry suspension, and user friendliness make it a winner.

Toyota's Corolla is reaching retirement age. It's a good car, but the Yaris is stealing its spotlight. Overall, the drive is bland, but efficient (low 30's) and predicable. I wish the brakes weren't so spongy, though.

Note to the renter: Rental agencies are hanging onto their cars longer to squeeze those extra profits out of them. Instead of wholesaling them at 20K miles, the new benchmark tends to be 25-30K. Cars seem to be lasting longer these days.

Also, note that I've changed rental agencies due to work mandates, and I can't choose my car from a lineup. I get whatever they give me, which last time was an Escape V-6. It was cool when it came out (capable off-road when needed), but not feasible for FE-consciousness.

Well, see you next time on rental row!

it's a good thing that rh77 is able to test drive so many vehicles.

Oh, please start a new thread for each review. That way it will enable us to comment on the particular review very easily.

I have in the works a plan to write a review system for vbulletin. It will act just like a forum, but will enable you to link a picture, rate the car (5 stars), etc.
