I commute over 60 miles per day. Almost all Higway, but non in the Desert @ 90MPG. My Prius is currenlty averaging 51+/-. 38 MPG is just wrong. I drive between 50-70 avg. I just drove 400 miles with over 1,000 lb and a canoe on the roof and still got 42. This guy must have been going 90 with he ac on, therefor eliminating the use of the battery.

In addition the Prius has more usable cargo capacity than any other car i have owned. I have had 3 mountain bikes in the car. I have taken 3 people skiing. 5 people to conerts, carried a dishwasher, carried a lawn mower, snowblower, desks, tables, etc.

As far as the buttons and stuff. You need more than 6 hours, but it's not that bad.

Obviously you were not using any hypermiling techniques.

38 MPG no way I have never got less then 48 MPG even when I bought my Pruis in Reno and drove back to San Jose doing 80 most of the way.

I usally get 50 to 54 MPG

What did you do to get such low milage let all the air out of the tires? drive up hill only, added 1500+ LB of cargo? how much do you weight?

You don't need the touch screen when drive all the controls are on the stering wheel Radio AC just takes a little getting used to.
