FOUND manual trans AND engine for `92 Civic VX!

Well...I went ahead and bit on JDMSource, and so far, I've been very impressed. Very quick service, shipped same day (I didn't call them until 2PM), even sent me pics of the engine/trans. They claim to clean and compression test every engine, 30-40,000 miles on them. I'll report when I get it next week and finish the transplant.

From the pics, looks good so far!

Forgot to mention...INCLUDES A/C compressor, alternator, belts, etc.!

Got the engine/trans in yesterday, everything looks good....transplant should happen today. Will report on how it runs/drives in a day or so.

How much did you end up spending? I'm kind of interested in an engine down the road...does it include plugs and sensors and all that junk?

Sorry, forgot to finish the story....."transplant" was successful! Engine runs great, trans is like new. My mechanic had a couple of complaints, sensor wires were cut before the connectors (another 3" would have had connectors intact), TPI sensor was broken (probably during engine removal). Little stuff....I'm happy with it overall.

$500 delivered. I didn't see a down side to it...

Good to hear. 80% of the time the tps's are broken.

Well....after LOTS of searching, I found a NEW TPS for $49.99 here: http://www.streetimports.com/product_details.asp?id=991

Honda dealer I talked with in Wichita wanted $200 plus tax!

You can use your old one. All you have to do is grind a slot into the mounting bolts/screws, then you can use a flat head screwdriver. You can also swap your throttle bodies, but budget for a $10 TB gasket.

Right....I'm going to replace just the sensor. I do have a spare throttle body (from my old VX engine), but would I need to replace it, too?
