The Insight will do worse in the snow. One of the things they did was 0 degrees toe-in to up the mileage, so you have handling issues on other than dry warm pavement, unless you fix toe-in to compensate, and mileage goes down.

Hmmm...that's one of the things I really LIKED about my VX, was great in snow/ice after I got decent LRR tires and some ballast in it. I wouldn't mind sacrificing some MPG in the winter for road-handling performance...if I have to.
