Talking VX at the track

I took the VX to the drag strip today. I got to make 6 passes.

Termperature: approximately 60 degrees

Best 1/4 mile time: 17.577
Best trap speed: 75.50 mph
Best reaction time: 0.001 sec

All times were within 0.2 seconds and 1 mph except for the 4th pass, where I missed the 1-2 shift.

These times will serve as my baseline for any performance mods I may make in the future.

That's a feature that prevents people from posting in all capitals.

Yup. O'Reilly Raceway Park lets owners run street-legal cars on Tuesday-nights. Since it was relatively cold, there was only a handful of cars out there last night.

I also had a relatively nice burnout. I'll try to get one on film at the end of the summer.

My 6 passes:

R/T 60 ft ? mi Trap Speed
.339 2.612 17.684 75.16
.043 2.669 17.762 75.50
.001 2.622 17.719 74.51
.187 2.549 17.577 74.71
.102 2.637 17.672 74.66
.170 2.714 17.751 74.76

It is notable that a stock VX would run the 1/4 mile in 17.3-17.4 @ 76-77 mph. It looks like my VX has not lost all that much in 15+ years and 230,000 miles. (How many owners can claim that their car rolled over to 230,000 miles while going down the racetrack?)

At what RPM are you shifting?

Obviously you are finishing in 3rd...

On my quickest runs, I was shifting at 6000 RPM in both 1st and 2nd. I tried shifting at 5800 twice, and those were my 17.7 runs.

The first 2 runs had the vertical intake tube on the car. I took it off for the last 4. It did not make a difference.

Over the summer, I plan on removing the A/C and installing a short ram intake, or perhaps a cold air intake. I'm hoping to get down to a 17.1 or 17.2. Of course, I will add more weight if I install the anti-roll bars I want. I will also probably install a strut tower brace up front (any suggestions?). I am wanting to autocross the car in September.

That IS good! I love when cars keep their strength.
By anti roll bars, do you mean a partial roll cage? Strut tower bars make a difference, and depending how deep the AutoX bug gets into you, there are alot of suspension options. I get all of my parts either used, or at a discount from forums. You could look for people upgrading.
You must be a good driver. Great reaction time. You must not have spent much time spinning.

I recently installed Eibach Pro springs and shocks. I need to replace the bushings next. I would like anti-roll bars (also called stabilizer bars or anti-sway bars) on the front and rear, as the VX does not have them from the factory. This is what I want:
