How about we try and identify the qualities we dislike? I don't like superfluous aesthetic add ons and choices that seriously compromise functionality, for example. Of course that's an engineer's eye, so your results may vary.

Anyone else have pet peeves in design?

I guess if I had to say the thing about the Prius I hate the most, I'd say it was the headlight design. Damn thing looks like a bug flying at you.

I can see that. They're weirdly proportioned and a little big. Overly aggressive grilles are another one for me. Like the one on the new Thunderbirds, for example.

I know it's not available on the US market, but I defy you to find something uglier than the Fiat Multipla.

As someone else mentioned earlier, the gaudy grille on the Ford Econoline really looks awful and out of place.

Here's what it looked like since the early 1990s:

A somewhat timeless design, IMO. It doesn't look exciting, it doesn't look interesting, it doesn't look scummy...it just looks professional. When the roofer or plumber shows up it's vaguely comforting to see him in that instead of a rotted out 1984 Ford Ranger.

Minor changes every few years to the grille, headlights, mirrors, and other details kept it from looking too old without taking way its plain professionalism.

Here's what it looks like now:

Substantially, it's visibly the same, except for that awful grille. Might as well be one of these:

That's astounding. Were they on an incredibly tight deadline or something? File that under "designs which look bodged together over a weekend from multiple cars". The second generation Multipla, while no looker, is much more the way it should've looked to begin with.

Maybe we will see the Multipla in the states, with the chrysler-fiat dial. That multipla is a mighty little vehicle - seats 6, boxy shape for huge cargo capacity, but not a monster SUV.
