SUGGESTION: Fuelly Average OVERALL MPG
Fuelly reports that I'm getting a healthy 45.3mpg for my last 10 gas tank refills.
I feel a 10 tank average is way too long a period. Primarily, because once you get the hang of how to get a good MPG score it takes too long to raise your overall MPG score with 9 previous "practice tanks", so to speak.
In other words, Olympic judges don't score an athlete based on their 10 previous competition scores. Their score is earned for that particular performance.
I think a 2 or 3 gas tank, MPG average is more realistic snapshot of one's true MPG, because it ignores all the prior "practice tanks", so to speak.
Thoughts?

It's never been brought up as a complaint before.
I'm interested in hearing what others think about it.

I only use about 12 tanks a year, so my running average is almost a years worth, which I can see on my profile anyway. What about a quarterly average for the last 3 months? Might make more sense given that you'd see people's averages for Spring, Summer, Autumn and winter, and how the cold/darker weather affects fuel consumption.

He's referring to the Dashboard view, which is not publicly accessible. Only the owner can see their dashboard (last 10 fuelups).
What you're describing might be best suited for a Mini Stat.

Yea this one? It displays the average of the last 10 fuel ups. But the stats you see publicly for other users, as per the signature too, is the total average of all the fuel ups combined is it not?

Uh. I wouldn't call it a "complaint". Just a different way to display stats, which would better engage people, because they would be judge on their more current behavior rather than their early, learning days.

Thing is, not everyones MPG'S are going to go up, mine have gone down considerably recently. Sometimes I have time constraints, having to get back for work or because I have frozen goods in the car, or sometimes just relentless bad weather forcing me to take the car to work, my fuel consumption is quite inconsistent at times.

Understood. Perhaps a website slider bar so everyone can set their own threshold of how many tanks to include in their MPG numbers.

I fill up about once a week or every 500 miles or so. For me, 10 fill ups is just about right to see how things are in the current driving season.
