both people in my family who smoked died around age 40 of unidentified pneumonia-like disorders. my aunt smoked constantly but never around the family. my dad did in high school for about 6 months and was stuck with lung problems till he died. Needless to say I didn't and don't have much desire to smoke.

When I was a kid (back in the '70s) my parents (who smoked 1-2 packs a day each) loved it when I'd borrow their car...'cuz I'd have to scrub it out to get rid of that brown goo. That, and having to live in a house which had as much smog inside as outside (and cleaning the goo off everything in the house) pretty much cured me of wanting to smoke (what...I'm gonna voluntarily put that in my lungs!?!?) My parents eventually quit smoking with the most fool proof plans around...emphysema and lung cancer.
