Slug the Black Death

I was looking though the Oil Bible(http://www.chris-longhurst.com/carbi...oil_bible.html website and they had a link to a BMW forum. Take a look at the pictures of the sludge in this engine. It amazing it didn't burn up. If also list some cures for the problem

Looks like the guy changed the oil just 3000 miles beforehand. I couldn't read all 11 pages, but it didn't look to get any better.

My guess is that that car had never seen an oil change until 37,000 miles. :P

It a really long thread but

It a really long thread but the jest of it is that the guy bought it used from a dealer with 30,000+ miles on it after it went through the dealers inspection and checks. The first time he changes the oil when he looks into the oil service hole he sees the junk. The dealer say that it is normal<jawdrop>. The records show changing the synthetic oil every 15000 miles.

Some where in the thread it talks about the engines from BMW, Toyoto, and Audi having sludge problem because of the extended change intervals.
