Had a customer about 30 years ago who had one like that. He was a professor at La Verne College (now University of La Verne), said he'd take 400 Krugerrands for it. At that time, it looked like just another 1957 car...maintained, but well worn. Paint was oxidized, car was faded but ran fine. At the then-current rate of $800/oz. for gold, he would have taken $32k for the car. Absurd for the car at that time, probably about the going rate now. (Which is to say he liked the car, didn't want to sell it, but...if someone would pay his price, he'd take it.)
