New car time.

Hey guys its been awhile. Just stoping in every once and a while to check up on things not posting much. Today my dad decided he wants a new car. He has a 06 honda accord ex. He would like to upgrade for a newer car in the price point of 27-30 grand with better mileage then the accord. I wanted to check up on what you guys think so i could help him get teh best choice. Let me know what you think.

If it has to be new or near new and he wants better mileage than what he has I suggest a civic, camry or prius hybrid. He also might look at the altima hybrid. Of course if it were my money there is a plethora of choices I could make. VW diesel, merc diesel, hybrids, TL type S, G8/gto, etc. I tend to like frugal or fun to drive cars.

Actually, I'd probably look at the new Mini Clubman, with light hybrid tech, suspicious of battery longevity and cost in full-on hybrids.

If its just MPg and he likes Honda...I'd say even the regular Civic would be a good choice - take his pick on options and then he can get 30+ mpg easily.

That, or maybe one of the Jetta TurboDiesels next year...50 mpg easily, but diesles a bit expensive here.

It would depend on milage I think. If the diesel gets 40+ mpg while the gas version gets 30, the price difference could be worth it.
