It'll never take off unless we can get cars running on it.
Unless of course this breed 'infects' other strains of its own accord, as GM crops are wont to do.

It's a dang shame the amount of energy and intelligence used to modify our food sources for greater carloric quantity, has not been used to modifiy our transportation system for greater efficiency.

I wonder if it matters. Breeders will multiply to test the limits of whatever the resource ceiling is at the time.
